Lola was inspired by the glazed ceramic vessels that David and his daughter Lola decorated in the studio of Montreal ceramic artist Pascale Girardin. Girardin used this same brushstroke approach to create hand-thrown sake vessels for Rockwell Group’s new Nobu Downtown restaurant in Lower Manhattan.
With a desire to entertain both the eye and the individual, American architect, David Rockwell, uses lively design narratives. The son of a vaudeville dancer and a choreographer, Rockwell’s upbringing has led to a fascination with the theatrical and an eccentricity to his creations, from those for fine hotels and restaurants to Broadway musicals and product design. Rockwell’s rug collection is based on graphic and textural explorations which are both sophisticated and playful.
